The 2008 PDS
User's Conference has come and gone. We had over 60 guests from banks all over
the United States. The Conference started on Sunday, April 20th and lasted
through Tuesday, April 22nd. The theme for the conference centered around the
similarities of the path movies have taken over the last 50 years and how the
technology has advanced, compared to how PDS has grown, improved and advanced
over the last 27 years. Glynn Broussard, Rick Knox, Richard Jacobs and Kip
Newnham provided a brief history of when PDS began (1981) and how the company
has progressed. Rick Knox also presented a session called "Mission Impossible"
detailing the security and compliance issues PDS has addressed in the last two
years. Many different events took place through out the conference and are
outlined below. The Conference started out with a welcome reception for everyone on Sunday evening. Everyone received a movie ticket and score card for "A Night at the Movies". Once the doors were opened, and everyone entered the room, they realized exactly what that meant. All of the PDS Employees were dressed up as different characters from movies that spanned every genre. The game began with all the guests guessing the identity of each character as well as the movie their character appeared in. They only had a few clues. It was a great time, and the costumes turned out great! Monday morning was the start of the classes and special guest speakers. Kathleen Kozlowski and Janet White with SES Insurance
came to talk to the Real Estate clients about their services and upcoming
products. OilDex
represented by Jim Allison, presented Oildex
products and services to the Oil & Gas clients. There were classes that covered the upcoming releases for 2008 & 2009 and new report writing system for the PDS product lines. A Tips & Tricks class provided much needed information about the changes made in the TMMS 126 & TRMS 186 releases. In between classes and during breaks
everyone was able to get together and put a face with the names they hear so
much. Monday night we had the Armadillo Awards show and Casino party. As everyone arrived to the Pavilion they were greeted by two...I mean one oversized Armadillo (we lost one to the wind, and it ended up in the water). As they walked up the "red carpet" (it was actually our company color burgundy) they had to stop in the photo area, and have their picture taken in front of our PDS backdrop. Lights were flashing, and the crowd was going crazy. Once the dinner began to finish up Kip took to the stage to present the Armie awards. Each Bank was given a special award created from the experiences we've had over the years with them. You can see a list of the awards here. Once the award ceremony had finished, the tables were opened for some good ol fashion gambling. There were Black Jack tables, a Roulette table, and a Craps table to choose from. Once everyone cashed in the chips they had won, they were given a voucher to bid on all the great items we had up for auction. There was a Nintendo Wii, MP3 players, gift cards, and all sorts of other great prizes. The conference ended with everyone tired, happy, educated and ready to go home and put their new knowledge to work. PDS enjoyed getting to visit and see all the attendees. Again, another successful conference and who knows what the conference in 2010 will bring. |
